What is a Battalion Chief ?

Battalion Chief Responsibilities & Duties

Battalion Chief Qualifications & Skills

• Advanced degree in fire science, public administration, or related field
• Executive Fire Officer Program (EFOP) certification
• National Fire Academy training
• Experience in handling large-scale emergencies and disasters
• Demonstrated leadership in fire service operations
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal fire and safety regulations
• Community engagement and public relations experience
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage complex projects and initiatives
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Bachelor's degree in Fire Science or a related field
• 10+ years of experience in firefighting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
• Valid Fire Officer III certification
• Strong leadership and management skills
